Gradbau.com is a service operated by Altado d.o.o., a company registered in Slovenia, in Postojna. We help property owners who don't live in Slovenia full-time or don't speak Slovenian fluently make sense of the local construction market and run a renovation or reconstruction project without unnecessary surprises.
Slovenia has a normal, developed construction market with many honest contractors. But for a foreigner who has bought a property and started dealing with renovation issues, the typical situation differs from a local's — and it's not always clear in what way.
All the situations listed on the right have come up with our clients. No one is obliged to understand processes like these if construction isn't their specialty, let alone in a foreign country.
In this position, the owner is under constant stress, sometimes overpays or accepts what's been offered. We remove that distance — we become your person on the Slovenian market.
You'll be in touch with your personal helper for the project — one of our team members who has experience in construction, knows the local materials market, and is familiar with current prices for construction works.
The word "independent" is used loosely in our industry. To make sure there's no doubt about what we mean by it:
None. Not in money, not in "thank-yous", not in discounts on our own work. If we did — you'd have no reason to trust us.
If we recommend a contractor, it's only because we've had a good experience with them — not because of any arrangement.
We don't earn more if your project is more expensive. We don't earn more if we've "saved" you a sum. Our service fee is fixed and agreed in advance.
That's why our recommendations are aligned only with your interests.

We're a helper to the client on the commercial, organisational, and language side of the project. Often that's enough. If your project requires a licensed specialist, we'll help you find one.
